St. Mary the Virgin in English Bicknor is a Grade I listed Norman church (c. 1100), nestled within an ancient Saxon/Norman castle site. Its exceptional Norman architecture features remarkable arches and finely carved stonework, including unique "beak heads."

Inside, discover a wagon-roofed nave, 13th-century chancel, a 15th-century screen, and Percy Bacon stained glass. The church is home to medieval stone effigies from the 13th-14th centuries, offering a profound glimpse into local history.

A notable feature is its ring of six bells, five from 1709, with a rare anti-clockwise ringing system. Recent restorations (2007) added modern amenities. The ancient churchyard holds intriguing historical tombs.
