The event occurred in 1875, around the time of his first Birthday. Gustav was taken for a stroll in his pram along Winchcombe Street. He was accompanied by his mother Clara and his nursemaid Alice Speechy. Walking towards them were Henry Swinhoe and his wife. That's when a curious and near-catastrophic incident took place.
