The Enigma of Arrival: The Politics and Poetics of Caribbean Migration to Britain at Haden Hill House Museum

Join us as we celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Barbados’ Independence with the Barbadian Heritage Project. Discover The Enigma of Arrival: The Politics and Poetics of Caribbean Migration to Britain—a travelling exhibition developed by The University of the West Indies in partnership with the Barbados Museum & Historical Society—alongside stories, photographs and oral histories from the Barbadian community in Birmingham and the West Midlands. Enjoy a weekend of live music, performances, storytelling and cultural activities, while helping preserve our shared heritage for future generations. The Barbadian Heritage Project is funded by the Heritage lottery fund

The weekend has been designed as an open community celebration where visitors can explore the exhibition at their own pace while taking part in conversations, music, storytelling, heritage activities and cultural experiences.

Alongside the exhibition, the grounds of Haden Hill House will become a Community Cultural Picnic, encouraging families and friends to spend the day together, bring their own picnic, meet new people and celebrate Barbadian heritage.
