How much do you know about the everyday objects found in all our homes? Scissors, table cutlery, kitchen knives, garden shears to name a few are all part of Sheffield's heritage. Find out how these items built a worldwide reputation for our city.

The Famous Sheffield Shop will be challenging you to participate in their prize quiz. Relishing this years theme of Everyday Lives, with questions relating to those little things, which we usually have multiples of in our house, garden or shed. They are often take for granted when we want to slice an apple, cut a piece of paper, cut back a hedge, have a shave or eat dinner.

With every piece of tableware there's a fascinating story. Can you tell your sugar scoop from a jam spoon? Your bun fork from a sardine fork? Come to our shop on Ecclesall Road and test your knowledge with our cabinet of curiosities. Cutlery from the past and present that will take some deduction to the purpose and function.

The cutlery industry, while smaller, is still prosperous today. Keep an eye on our Facebook feed for details and dates of our "meet the maker" events. Our craftsmen will be at hand to talk about their work, traditional techniques and how new technology has, or hasn't, affected their jobs.
