Find out about the various buildings the collections were stored in, the change we have made, and the ideal conditions to preserve archival material, as well as what the archivist does day to day.

We are proud to announce our newly renovated archive store and invite you to have a look around. Please join us as we regale you with an introduction to the Harrow Local History Collection, and its journey across architectural environments, for the better and the worse, and the remaining ugly bits we would like to forget about!

Find out about the various buildings the collections were stored in, the change we have made, and the ideal conditions to preserve archival material, as well as what the archivist does day to day. As well as exploring our storage spaces, this will be an opportunity to view highlights of our collection relating to architecture. This will include material used in our various exhibitions for our 60th anniversary celebrations, photographs of forgone buildings, or current ones in the past, maps and plans including from the museum’s latest renovations!
This is a rare opportunity to see a part of the museum usually reserved for paying groups.

We like to be cold and professional in the stores, please bring warm clothing for your visit. Bags will not be allowed. Please expect to stand throughout the tour, which will take 45 minutes.

Additional information

Headstone Manor & Museum is open from 10am-4pm (last entry to the museum is at 3:30pm). During Heritage Open Days we will offer a coffee and cake deal for £5.50 at the Moat café. *Please note both the museum and the cafe are closed on Mondays.
