The Guildhall and the Cathedral Church of St. Martin by Irene Turlington

There has been historic links between the Guildhall and St. Martins Church since around 1350. The religious Guild of Corpus Christi had their altar in the great south aisle in St. Martins.

The Town Library was moved from St. Martins to the Chantry Priests Rooms in 1632 in the Guildhall.

There are connections with the English Civil War and the Siege of Leicester, to name but a few.

On this tour, we will be particularly concentrating on members of the Herrick Family - Robert Heyricke, the Alderman and Mayor of Leicester, and Sir William Herrick.

*Please note - The tour will begin in the Cathedral and then continue in the Guildhall next door. It is also is part of the Leicestershire & Rutland Festival of Archaeology 2025.
