The House of Worth in Bourne - 200 years Anniversary Preparation
Wake House, 41 North Street, Bourne, Lincolnshire, PE10 9AE
Wake House is the birthplace of Charles Frederick Worth, "The Father of Haute Couture".
After moving from rural Lincolnshire, he founded his innovative and very successful business in the centre of Paris for customers with "very deep pockets". There will be free guided (or self-guided) tours of Wake House, also displays of Charles F Worth’s creations and information about his life and career.
October 2025 is the 200th Anniversary of his birth in (what is now) Wake House. The 200 years anniversary is being celebrated with events in Paris, in Bourne town and in Wake House. Come and learn about Charles Frederick Worth and the plans to celebrate his anniversary.
Also there will be information about the refurbishment/development of Bourne's Old Town Hall and an exhibition of work by local artists.
We thank The National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Lottery's players because our plans for the celebration of Charles Frederick Worth's 200 year anniversary and the refurbishment of the Old Town Hall are made possible by lottery funding.
