  • Multiple dates available
  • In person
  • Pre-booking preferred

The Long House is one of the oldest & best preserved houses in Sandwich. Built sometime circa 1570, and was originally on the Quayside, when Sandwich was a port. It still has an old customs house in the garden.

The house has a Grade 2* listing. An architecturally high status jetty house, it still maintains some medieval features, including a decorative scheme of c1570 to 3 first floor chambers, comprising wall paintings of griffins, fruit & flowers, with some surviving original colours. There is also a cellar which reputedly dates from 1253, which has a blocked off passage which led to the quay.
