Opened in 1933 to house the antiquarian collections of Herbert Norris who left them to the town of St Ives. His diverse collection of Huntingdonshire’s history, acquired over many years, tells the story from 160m years ago to the present day.

The Museum's permanent gallery displays a multitude of historic, interesting and quirky artefacts, some having interactive activities and games to stimulate a child's imagination. It's a welcoming, accessible and inspiring place to visit for free, run by a friendly and creative team.

Family activities at the Norris Museum for Heritage Open Day 2026 Saturday 12th September 1100 - 1500. Free to drop in.

The Museum is open from 1000 to 1600.

Directions:
Walking away from the centre of St Ives towards the spire of the Parish Church, with the River Great Ouse on your left you will enter the Broadway. The Norris Museum is the last building on the left of the Broadway. If you walk past the Bandstand in the open paved area, you have gone too far.

Accessibility details

The nearest car park is Globe Car Park on West Street, PE27 5PS. If you park there you cross the road you entered from, then you can walk through the side entrance of the Methodist Church or through George Yard. The Norris Museum is across the road, on the waterside and the last building before the Quay.

Additional information

Next to the river Great Ouse, in a charming location the Norris is a delightful small museum with a beautiful garden. The Museum is open Mon-Sat from 10am to 4pm. Free entry. On 12th September from 1100 to 1500 there will be free activities for children.
