The Old Grammar School is over 500 years old, and houses the Heritage Centre. During HODS week we will be open as usually with our Streets Through Time panoramas showing the changing use of buildings. We will also have a display of local artwork.

The Old Grammar School tells the story not only of a remarkable Tudor building, but of the community that grew around it. Discover how local people lived, learned and worked, from schoolchildren and craftsmen to shopkeepers and tradespeople who lined the High Street and The Homend.
One of the building's most personal connections to the past can still be seen today. In the 1700s, boys who attended the Old Grammar School etched their names into the window glass! These simple inscriptions have survived for centuries, preserving the signatures of pupils who once sat in the classroom and offers a rare, direct link to the everyday lives of the children who learnt here. Also take a glimpse into a display of the log book entries from 1890s, about a day in the life of our local primary school.
Explore our extended Street Through Time panorama to see how Ledbury's streets have changed over centuries. Find out what businesses once stood beside The Feathers, where George Brookes the saddler worked, and how familiar buildings have been adapted.
This year we have a display of artwork by a local artist showing our stunning Viaduct, with steam train, as well as Church Lane travelled by many over hundreds of years.

One of our other displays reveals the documents that recorded the town's history, including a striking photographic reproduction of a multiple-sheet vellum indenture dated 11 April 1665. Created during the reign of Charles II, granting rights to the Lordship and Manor of Ledbury.
