Visit Oxford's oldest Catholic church, opened in 1875.

The Oratory is the oldest Catholic church in Oxford. Built to a French Neo-Gothic design, highlights include the murals depicting the life of St Aloysius Gonzaga by renowned Arts and Crafts artist Gabriel Pippet, and a collection of more than a thousand relics of the saints.

Visitors will be able to follow an exhibition around the church, explaining its history and its present use, and volunteers will be present to answer any questions you might have. The church is open from 7am to 7pm every day, but Open Doors visitors are kindly asked to keep to 11am–5pm on Saturday and 12:15pm–5pm on Sunday, to avoid disturbing services in church — although you are very welcome to join us for those too!
