This ancient Parish church is a hidden gem in London’s suburbia. Mentioned in the Doomsday book of 1086. History boards showing timeline from Early Iron Age. This year celebrating 150th anniversary of Victorian extension.

A Grade II listed Jacobean church (1611) built on Saxon ruins with a Victorian extension (1875) and a contemporary extension (2004) within a conservation area. Ancient fields and Hogsmill River nearby. Connections with Walter de Merton and Merton College Oxford, with his coat of arms in a heraldic window with 1611 glass. The artist Millais painted the background to ‘Ophelia’ on the nearby Hogsmill river. History boards with timeline from Early Iron Age. This year the church celebrates 150 years of the Victorian extension, now the main part of the church.
