We meet in 'The Friend's Room', in the Pavilion by the bandstand, for a short presentation and visual display of old photographs. We hope to include a roof top tour. Afterwards, a walk and talk around the park and finally a train ride.

Eaton Park is one of Norwich's most beautiful parks and is the largest in the area at 80 acres. This tour is organised by The Friends of Eaton Park whose aim is to 'help Eaton Park thrive'. We will begin with a short history of the park with reference to Peter Eade and Arnold Sandys-Winsch (who designed and built the park in the 1920s with the help of unemployed labour) and also a brief presentation on how the park has changed since then. There will be a visual display of historic and current pictures of the park.
The walking tour which follows will take in the historic architecture, the homage to Thomas Browne (recently installed in the park) the lily pond and the boating lake. We hope to have access to one of the rooftops around the bandstand. We will then proceed to the miniature railway for a free train ride across one of the meadow areas by courtesy of the Norwich and District Society of Model Engineers. After this, we can return to the Friends room via the Rose Garden for a further look at our archive materials.
