The Porter Quarter? A New Vision for the Lower Porter Brook
199 Eyre Street, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S1 3HU
Share our vision of a new blue-green corridor in the city centre along a restored Porter Brook with significant benefits for climate change resilience, nature recovery, active travel, heritage, city centre living, local business and mental wellbeing. Longer term, it offers part of a direct link to the Peaks.
We highlight that almost every site along this corridor is either scheduled for redevelopment or has recently undergone development with river improvements. At either end, two large Housing Priority Neighbourhoods are planned by Homes England. And possibly four other large sites lie in between. At the very same time the Environment Agency and the Council are developing flood defence plans for the area.
This walk is a contribution to a more joined-up approach to this changing city centre quarter.
The Vision is a collaboration between the Sheaf & Porter Rivers Trust and Urban Wilderness Landscape Architects.
