The Real McCoy™ - Black Inventors Exhibition - 'A Rich Heritage', visits Bradford City Hall
Bradford City Hall, Centenary Square, City Centre, Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD1 1HY
Many products making our lives easier, simpler, faster..., are the genius of Black inventors, but they have been 'Hidden in Plain Sight'!
The Real McCoy™, is the UK's first travelling, mobile ‘Black Inventions Heritage Exhibition’, comprising of both original and physical models of inventions, by female and male inventors; together with archive material.
It is an interactive educational exhibition designed for ALL age ranges and showcases the rich cultural heritage and great contribution to the world of innovation made by Black Inventors, exhibiting a wide range of inventions that have either been written out of history or purposely supressed etc, a story which until now, ‘has not been told!’
The aims of the exhibition are:
· To help inspire, stimulate and release the latent creativity that clearly exists within our local communities, particularly within the more deprived areas, where 'Necessity, truly is the Mother of Invention'.
·To attract new audiences to museums and private and public exhibition spaces (including educational establishments) to educate the wider world of the valuable contributions made to the world of innovation by Black Inventors, by showcasing an extraordinary collection, rarely witnessed in other museums or exhibition spaces
· To tell the extraordinary stories that brings our collection and subjects focus to life - hence the term 'Rich Heritage' it's more
than about the money, it's about the 'rich stories' behind each inventor and the challenges faced.
