Step inside one of Barton's most historically significant buildings during this year's Heritage Open Days.

The Ropewalk, formerly known as Hall's Barton Ropery, is a Grade II listed former rope factory with a history stretching back to the late 18th century. The Hall family, wealthy shipowners from Hull, became involved in rope making in Barton in 1767, and the present building dates from around 1800. Rope continued to be manufactured here until the factory closed in 1989.

Today, The Ropewalk is a regionally acclaimed centre for the arts, home to a museum, art galleries, a stunning coffee shop, craft gallery, a live performance venue, and artists' studios. Join CEO Liz Bennet for a guided tour and discover the fascinating history of this remarkable building and its transformation from working ropery to thriving cultural venue.
