Step inside one of Barton's most historically significant buildings during this year's Heritage Open Days.

The Ropewalk, formerly Hall's Barton Ropery, is a Grade II listed former rope factory dating back to circa 1800, with its roots in rope-making going as far back as 1767, when the Hall family, prominent shipowners from Hull, first established operations in the town. This impressive industrial structure stands as a rare example of early rope-making architecture, stretching out in classic long-line form to accommodate the ropemaking process. Closed in 1989 after more than two centuries of production, it has since been thoughtfully repurposed and now serves as a regional arts centre featuring galleries, a craft gallery and museum, studios and a live performance venue.
