The ‘Sci-Fi Scriptorium’: Open Day

Berwick Library Building, Walkergate, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland, TD15 1DB

  • 19 Sep 2025
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Drawing on the history and heritage of Berwick-upon-Tweed to imagine what the future might hold, Caroline Jupp’s ‘Sci-Fi Scriptorium’ is a place for creativity and friendly discussion.

The ‘Sci-fi Scriptorium’ is a space designed by artist Caroline Jupp for writing and imagining the future in the town centre of Berwick, hosting workshops and inviting the public in to explore speculative forms of writing inspired by Berwick as a place and objects from the KOSB collection and Record Office. The project is inspired by the Lindisfarne Scriptorium and considers what such a space could be today and in the future.
Throughout the summer Jupp has been hosting book clubs, writing groups, collage workshops and family workshops exploring hot topics such as AI and climate change through speculative stories and science-fiction, as well as creative prompts, friendly chat and literary support.
Drop in to find out more about the project, browse the contributions from Berwickers and add your own ideas.
