Unleash your creativity at 575 Wandsworth Road and join us for an evening of stencilling!

As part of Heritage Open Days, we invite you to use stencils to create an original collage inspired by the striking property of Khadambi Asalache, a Kenyan-born poet, novelist and British civil-servant.

This event takes specific inspiration from the wall paintings in his bedroom, where Khadambi adapted stencil patterns given to him by an interior designer friend, Lyn le Grice, to hand-paint decoration throughout.

We’ve been caring for Khadambi’s Georgian terraced home since 2010. From 1986-2005, he created a house unlike any other.

Khadambi’s artistic vision for its stunning interior, filled with delicate hand-carved wooden fretwork (made from discarded pine doors and reclaimed floorboards) and painted decoration, was largely inspired by traditional African houses, Moorish and Ottoman architecture, motifs and patterns.

We'll begin with a tour of the house before using the unique space as inspiration to create original works of art.
