The Plunkett Prize - The View From Here
Hungate, St Peter Hungate, Princes St, Norwich, Norfolk, NR3 1AE
George Plunkett was born in Norwich in 1913; he acquired his first camera in 1931, and in the years that followed he photographed, developed and printed over one thousand rolls of film, most of which recorded Norwich and Norfolk.
In 2025, NNAS inaugurated a new photography competition, recording Norfolk, its people and places, present and past. Hungate are delighted to be able to host the resulting exhibition of images which met the challenge of 'photographing our present and past for the future'. The shortlisted will be accessioned to the picture Norfolk Archive.
Hungate, based in the Grade 1 listed former parish church of St Peter Hungate, is the exhibition centre of Hungate Medieval Art - a volunteer run charity promoting Norfolk’s rich medieval history through free art exhibitions, lectures and events.
NNAS, the Norfolk and Norwich Archaeological Society, has been the County Archaeological Society for Norfolk since 1846. We exist to encourage interest in Norfolk’s rich heritage, and to work for its protection, through a range of activities including advocacy, life long learning, and grant making.
