The Y Theatre - 125 Years In Music
YMCA, 7 East Street, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE1 6EY
The Y Theatre celebrates its 125th anniversary this year and has a rich musical history, beginning with Penny Concerts in the early 1900s, opera and musicals in the 50s to 80s to rock, pop, folk, metal and more –
You are invited to help us tell the story of the heritage and history of The Y Theatre and our city of Leicester.
‘125 Years in 125 minutes’ is an ambitious music, poetry and storytelling project supported by theatre professionals.
Beginning with ideas sharing sessions in July where you are invited to help mold and shape the initial project, we will then be holding free to attend creative workshops across the summer working with Leicester based creatives to create 125 minutes (2 hours, 5 minutes) of music, storytelling and poetry.
The final project will be explored and exhibited in The Y Theatre September 14th-16th as part of Heritage Open Days.
Whether it’s 125 words, syllables, sentences or beats per minute, we want you to tell your story and help us tell our story. The Y Theatre – 125 years in 125 minutes.
