Theatre Royal Brighton Open Day
Theatre Royal Brighton and The Colonnade Bar, New Road, Brighton & Hove, East Sussex, BN1 1SD
Built in 1807, Theatre Royal Brighton is one of the oldest and most distinguished theatres in the country. The auditorium of this Grade II* listed building is a jewel of Regency architecture, and with over 200 years of stories in its walls, this is your chance to take a closer look!
Enter through our very own historic pub, The Colonnade Bar, and follow in the footsteps of generations as you explore our recently renovated theatre. Check out the view from every level — climb to the top of the Gallery, or get up close and personal with the stage in the Stalls!
Wander past walls lined with framed original playbills or snap a photo in our Royal Box, then dive into our archive of programmes and photographs for a glimpse into the theatre's rich past. You even have the chance to create some theatre history of your own: share your memories of Theatre Royal Brighton in our dedicated Memory Booth, and become part of the living story of this remarkable venue.
As you journey around our theatre, don't forget to explore our various activities, including puppet making, a 1960s Mod-themed time capsule, and our very own Ghost Corner. Every theatre has its ghosts, but they are always friendly!
Join us on one of our free backstage tours, departing at 10.15am, 10.45am, 11.15am, 11.45am, 12.15pm and 12.45pm.
And if all that adventuring makes you thirsty, there will be tea, coffee and soft drinks served in our Royal Circle Bar, and ice cold beverages available at the Colonnade Bar.
