Opening the Doors

The Doncaster Civic Trust opens its doors to the public to share an illustrated talk by Yorkshire Speaker David Winpenny from Ripon. He will talk about the history of country house visiting; from the earliest days large houses and castles were open to guests. However over the centuries guests became visitors and then tourists as owners adapted to the new demands and new economic circumstances. An interesting journey through social history.
The talk will be followed by free refreshments and biscuits and a chance to find out about the work of the Doncaster Civic Trust, celebrating its 80th Anniversary this year.
