Too many to mention......but some people will be, like the person who established the church, those who built it and others who have simply attended it for generations ensuring it is still here today nearly 900 years after its doors were first open?

St Chad's church in the centre of Stafford has a rich history due to both the care and sometimes neglect of the people who have come to worship there. But who were these people? Visiting the church you can find some of the answers. Some names, like the founder of the church are written in stone, others are only known by the skilled stone work they created. Some who lived centuries ago are famous, like Izaac Walton author of "The Compleat Angler" in the C17th, the well known Victorian Architect Sir George Gilbert Scott who drew the plans for the restoration of the church ,or the more locally recognised Henry Turkington, a generous benefactor in the early 20th century. Others are simply known through our Parish Records but lived ordinary lives in the parish, working in local trades and attending the church for worship.
As for its name - you will also be able to find out about the life of St Chad himself.
