Tour of The Minster Church of St Denys and Bell Tower
The Minster Church, Church Street, Warminster, Wiltshire, BA12 8PQ
Come and explore The Minster Church of St Denys, the oldest church in Warminster, steeped in history dating back
to Saxon times. You will be met by our church warden who will talk you through The Minster’s full and varied
history and the many original features still in place today.
Next you will climb the steep, winding steps of the bell tower with a member of the Bell Ringing Team.
Once inside the ringing room you will hear the history behind the bells, (hopefully) be able to see some
bell ringing in action and learn more about this ancient skill. Please note the spiral staircase up the tower
is steep, dark and narrow, therefore this part of the tour is advised for only those who are able bodied,
with general fitness, a head for heights and sensible shoes! It is not suitable for anyone who suffers from
claustrophobia.
