At this quirky art centre in Rugby town, textile artist and tudor re-enactor Tamsen Flack, will be joined by friends in tudor dress, and they will demonstrate textile crafts, prepare Tudor food and (Sunday only) entertain with some tudor music.

In 2025 we enjoyed the company of Tamsen Flack in her tudor costume for an evening sharing knowledge and answering questions. In 2026 we are delighted that she is playing a lead role in our Heritage Open Day weekends at the Alex.

The tudor activities will be over three days with demonstrations on each day, emphasis on food on Friday, textiles on Saturday and music on Sunday (incuding perfomance by Coranto).

During the weekend Tamsen, in costume, will be talking about and showing different types of fabric: wool, linen, silk, velvet and different yarns: linen and Silk and hopes to be dyeing cloth/yarn, silk painting and have a painted cloth (wall hanging - on linen) which people participate in painting. On Saturday you will also see spinner Liz Davies using her spindle.

The Alexandra Arts is a victorian building and formerly a pub. Since 2022 its owners (artists themselves) have been running artist-led events, exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations, talks and activities to showcase local artists. Five artists have studios at the Alex so you may see these at work when you visit. During September 2026 the monthly exhibition will be Made by Hand, and focus on Heritage crafts and arts.
