The event will take place on Harropwell Lane, Pontefract, and will look at a project which aimed to help boys who were reluctant to go to school, and another project working with people on probation.

The project which was about helping reluctant school attenders involved building a centre, and then organising activities within it. Over the years the project changed, but the building is still there and is known as Pontefract Family Centre.

The project which involved working with people on probation, developed a scheme whereby a couple of houses were available. People who had been released from prison, would live in these houses for a specific amount of time, learning to look after themselves again, and they could also go to the probation centre for support, for social contact, and to meet their probation officers.

Pontefract Quaker Meeting was heavily involved in both projects. After hearing about the projects, we will walk back to the Meeting House, and have refreshments.
