Unity Methodist Church, Wesley Avenue, Sandbach
Unity Methodist Church, Wesley Avenue, Sandbach, Cheshire, CW11 1DG
Opened in 1873 as Sandbach Wesleyan Methodist Church, the chapel became part of Unity Methodist Church in 2020, following the amalgamation with Sandbach Heath and Wheelock Methodist churches. Weekly Sunday worship in the chapel continues to be central to the church's life. The chapel's original features include Victorian box pews, gallery and pulpit. The organ, a Conacher concert organ, built in Huddersfield, was installed in the 1880s, having originally come from Stretford Town Hall. Music from the organ will be played during the open day. The church has had an important place in the lives of many local families over the 150 years and still plays its part in the life of Sandbach today, through the many activities which take place in the Wesley Centre (formerly Sandbach Methodist Sunday School), a separate building behind the chapel.
