With dignified liturgy and beautiful music, St Mary the Virgin has been a place of Christian worship for over a thousand years.
We will be offering Volunteer-led Church History Tours; the launch of a new 'Equally Oxford' Exhibition; a Children's Activity on the 2026 Open Doors Theme of Everyday Histories: Exploring daily working life through the ages; and an Evensong service at 5pm at St. Cross Church for Holy Cross Day, with guest preacher Reverend Canon Professor William Whyte, Chair of the Oxford Preservation Trust.
Holywell Cemetery, 10 St Cross Road, OX1 3TU will also be open.

University Church of St Mary the Virgin has step-free access through the High Street door, with a ramp available to access the chancel. The Radcliffe Square entrance is not step free. We do not have public toilets. An accessible toilet is available on request. Assistance dogs and prams/pushchairs are very welcome in the Church. We host a 'pop up' cafe in the churchyard of the Radcliffe Square; there is step-free access to this cafe via Catte Street.
