Built in 1665, Maison Dieu House began as the home and office of the Agent Victualler, who was in charge of the Dover Victualling Yard, which made ship’s biscuit, salt meat and beer for the Royal Navy. It later became a private house, then Dover Library before being taken over by Dover Town Council.
