A chance to explore the glorious church that is St Bartholomew’s in Edgbaston

St Bartholomew’s church began life as a private chapel to the Manor House (currently Edgbaston Golf Club’s clubhouse) in about 1270. It is now more easily recognised as a Victorian Gothic, grade II listed church, thanks to the efforts of the Victorian industrialists who settled in Edgbaston and J A Chatwin is the architect who effected this transformation.

If you have ever wandered past the church, or been stuck at the traffic lights, and wondered what the church is like inside, this is your chance to find out. Come and admire this beautiful church with its many stained-glass windows, find out about medical discoveries from our memorials, learn about people, and their personal histories on the War memorial, and understand the development of the church within its diverse and vibrant community.

About your visit:

Please feel free to wander around the church and explore by yourself; there are information cards provided. If you prefer a guided tour our volunteers will be happy to take you around the church and point out its many features and stories.

Tea and coffee will be available and there are toilets available in the small parish hall opposite the church; there is one step up into the toilet area.

Only service dogs are admitted in the church building.

There is wheelchair access to the church via the main path to the front entrance on Church Road.

There is no admission charge to the church but any donations to church maintenance will be greatly appreciated.
