Walk - Towering Natural Treasures - White Cliffs of Dover grassland treasures

Join Melanie Wrigley, National Trust resident ecologist as she reveals the wonderful plants, animals, rocks and chalk cliffs landscape as you walk from the White Cliffs Visitor Centre across the cliff, top landscape to the South Foreland Lighthouse. There will be a one hour stop for lunch where you can bring your own packed lunch or visit Mrs Knotts Tearoom (please bring a means to pay) after which we will walk back across the inland tracks through the reverted arable grassland and enjoy the song and antics of the skylarks and corn buntings. You may even see a raven, kestrel or red-billed chough on our way back to Langdon Cliffs.
Length of route: 6.2 km = 3.85 miles. Visitor Centre to South Foreland Lighthouse and back via inland tracks towards Wanstone Battery track to see the skylarks, then along the top of Langdon Hole return to the Visitor Centre.

Unfortunately, the walk route is not suitable for access with wheelchairs and accessible scooters Bring clothing and footwear suitable for weather forecast. Please Note that this walk will not go ahead if there are heavy rain, strong winds or thunderstorms. Bring drinking water and snacks. Bring sun hat and sun lotion. Stout shoes or boots. closed toe footwear recommended due to prickly plants in the grassland. Bring binoculars if you wish.
