Visit the historic Watch House on the South Pier South Shields and discover the history and heritage of 158 years of lifesaving service and learn about today's search and rescue work in this very special building.

South Shields Volunteer Life Brigade Watch House is a Grade Two listed building of significant historic and heritage importance. It houses a unique collection of figureheads, name boards artefacts and hundreds of photographs and fascinating display of lifesaving equipment since 1866.
