Wavertree Lock Up built on Wavertree Green over 200 years ago. Before police stations were built these were erected to lock up local drunks and miscreants in a secure building. Later on along the High Street a purpose built Police Station was built.

Over the years the Lock Up has been used to temporarily house 2 Irish families who had travelled to Liverpool to get away from Potato Famine. At another point in time used to store corpses and
for victims of the plague.
