The Schoolroom/Heritage Centre will be open to the public and will include a free talk at 12.00 noon on 'Mining Communities', which will be followed by a guided walk around the village, at 1.30pm.

Our heritage centre contains many exhibitions depicting the fascinating heritage of Wellow. The village was created in the twelfth century and features a dyke, buildings from the mediaeval period through to modern day and has a fascinating story about a medical breakthrough!

The village sits just outside Sherwood Forest and is on the edge of the well known Nottinghamshire mining field, consequently the talk on Mining Communities, at noon, will have an interest to many people.

The 1.30 walk around the village will be preceded by a short introductory talk, which will help you put into context the many buildings, structures and stories that you will see on your walk. You will walk around part of the mediaeval dyke and see the famous Wellow Maypole.
