St Cuthbert's Church, Norham, has stood on the banks of the Tweed since 1165. Its churchyard holds the graves of soldiers, artists and clergy whose stories are woven into the life of the parish. The church is currently the focus of a National Lottery Heritage Fund-supported restoration and interpretation project, helping to conserve this historic building and share its stories with new audiences.
The guided walk will explore the lives and stories of several fascinating individuals buried in St Cuthbert's Churchyard, including Revd William Gilly, botanical artist Margaret Rebecca Dickinson, King's Own Scottish Borderers piper Daniel Laidlaw and clockmaker Charles Henry Taylor.
The walk will also include:
• The two Commonwealth War Graves
• The Grade II Listed grave recognised by Historic England
• The Blake family tombstone area
• The Churchyard Pollinators Project and its importance for biodiversity
The meeting point for the walks will be indoors at the Village Hall. Each walk will last approximately 40 minutes and be entirely outdoors, please dress for the weather.

Accessibility details
The Churchyard paths are gravel and may not be suitable for all wheelchairs. The toilet facilities are at the Village Hall where the walks start and finish. There are two disabled parking spaces that can be reserved by contacting the Village Hall, otherwise parking is on-street. Refreshments are available locally in the village, two pubs provide teas and coffees, the butcher's shop offers filled rolls and the village shop cold drinks etc.
