William Henry Forman; Iron Master and Benefactor
Doncaster Minster, Church Street, Doncaster, South Yorkshire, DN1 1RD
The Minster Church of Saint George, Doncaster stands at the heart of the town of Doncaster, where a church has stood for over 8 centuries.
A major feature is the Forman Chapel, paid for by William Henry Forman, a local landowner. The stone vaulted ceiling; the decorated blind arcading and the marble columns to the walls, together with the Minton tiled floor are all of exceptional quality. Find out why Forman was such a generous benefactor.
Special exhibition of the history of the Minster and the connection of William Henry Forman to the Minster and to Pippbrook House, Surrey (also taking part in the Heritage Open Days)
