Winchester Friends (Quaker) Meeting House

Our house has a number of interesting historic features outside and inside. From the top floor there are great views of Wolvesey Castle and the Bishops Palace. The garden is a beautiful enclosed spot with areas for quiet sitting or meditation - a perfect place to enjoy some peace and a drink, with maybe a cream tea!
Our exhibition this year is "Innocent Trades" looking at the professions Quakers have been involved with since our founding. There will also be a small poster exhibition by the interfaith group "Creative Voices for Peace".

Colebrook Street is just behind the Abbey Park gardens which is next to King Alfred's statue at the bottom of the town.

The ground floor of the house and the garden are wheel chair and disabled friendly but not the upper floors unfortunately.

Additional information

The house and garden are an interest in themselves but also it is the Meeting House of Quakers in Winchester - a quiet hour of stillness each Sunday morning and Wednesday lunchtime (half hour). Many other organisations and hirers use our house during the week. We have wardens who are on duty for most parts of the week.
