Wolverhampton's Great War Railway Men - A War Walk

In 1914, three railway companies operated in Wolverhampton: the Great Western Railway, the London and North Western Railway and the Midland Railway. Employees from all three enlisted and roughly 11% of them never came home. Nationally, about 21,500 railwaymen died in the war. This war-walk visits places where 16 of these Wolverhampton men lived, worked, or are commemorated, and recounts the parts they played in the ‘war to end all wars’. The walk lasts roughly two hours and includes several sites in the old ‘Railwaylands’ of Wolverhampton, where the ground can be uneven and there are also flights of stairs.
