World War II Bombing Decoy Bunker Open Day

Moors Valley Country Park, Ashley Heath, Ringwood, Dorset, BH24 2ET

  • 21 Sep 2025
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Discover a hidden piece of local WWII history.

The decoy bunker at Moors Valley was used during World War II to power and control lights to mimic the nearby RAF airfields at Hurn and Ibsley, including a 1km flare path whose location has been identified. This is an opportunity to take a closer look at the bunker, which is not normally open to the public. Volunteers will be on-site to explain more about how the bunker was used and tell the story of its operation, as well as the scale and importance of Decoy and Deception Techniques to the war effort.
The bunker is a dark, enclosed space, but there is ample daylight from the entrances.
