Entering the church will also take you through the door which is a thousand years old and thought to be the third oldest door in the country.
The church will be open as usual, but also will be filled with displays where visitors can find out about how we worship God with our senses, including how this has changed over time. This will include:
Touch - communion into hand
Taste - communion wine
Sound - music
Smell - incense
Sight - vestments, stained glass, icons and Shrine of Our Lady of Grace of Ipswich:
Other displays include
• What the Westgate quarter of Ipswich looked like in medieval times
• The Legend of Our Lady of Grace of Ipswich
There is much more to see including photographs of the ancient tower clock, which is the oldest in Suffolk, and information about some of the heroes on the war memorial. There will be a display explaining what the symbols on the arch mean too.
The church will be open from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday 13th and from 11.45 am to 4 pm on Sunday 14th.
Please note there will be a said Mass at 9.00 am on Saturday and the Parish Eucharist will be taking place as usual from 10.45 am to 11.45 am on Sunday. Visitors are very welcome to come when services are taking place, but some of the displays may not be available at these times.
