A lovingly renovated Jacobean manor house, gardens and newly opened library in the old Tithe barn, now being used for theological education and retreat space.

Built in 1611 by Sir Thomas Spencer, Yarnton Manor is an impressive Grade II Manor house estate complete with formal gardens, an orchard and a Tithe Barn library. It has been many things to many people over the years including a private residence for the Spencer-Churchill family, a Civil War hospital, wedding venue and Jewish and Hebrew study centre. Since 2021 it has been owned by the Lanier Foundation who have painstakingly renovated the building ready for its next lease of life. It now welcomes Christian scholars and church workers and hosts a permanent residential community. We look forward to welcoming guests to the site on Saturday 13th when there will be bookable tours of the Manor and library, a garden trail, space to picnic, garden games and a craft activity for children.
Completed in June 2025, we are still settling into our stunning new library. At 11am and 2pm project architects Marion and James will give a special talk and tour about the architecture past and present of this beautiful old tithe barn and will be on hand to answer questions all day. We will also have a children’s craft activity to ‘make your own Manor’ focussing on elements of design and history.
