Yorkshire Churches Day - churches on the Sykes Trail - visit to Sledmere

Sledmere House, Sledmere, Driffield, East Riding of Yorkshire, YO25 3XG

  • 13 Sep 2025
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Why not take a break for lunch at Sledmere itself, where you can enjoy the largest and grandest of the Sykes churches built between 1893-8 by Temple Moore in the Decorated style on the site of an earlier 14th century church.

The interior is richly carved with ornate wooden screen, rood loft and elaborate reredos, and Burlison and Grylls glass in the north aisle. Sledmere House has a wonderful café and toilet facilities, as well as the Waggoners’ Reserve Museum. Alternatively, take a picnic and enjoy the facilities of the Fimber Café, at the roundabout junction of the B1248 and B1251.
