Medieval windows
Discover the craftsmanship behind the restoration of three large stained-glass windows, carried out by Holywell Glass and supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Featuring restored stained glass, new hand-blown clear glass, and renewed stonework tracery, the project showcases traditional skills still in use today!
The people's collection
Explore the world’s largest collection of trade union and political banners as you dive into a behind the scenes tour of the People’s History Museum. This guided experience will provide you the chance to get up close to objects currently being conserved. Through live demonstrations and expert insight, you'll discover the specialist techniques used to care for these objects and how they are carefully prepared for public display.
Conservation pop up
Step back in time as you explore this Victorian Primary School set in what was once the working-class centre of Tunbridge Wells. The conservation team from Scotney Castle will be hosted at the event, offering a series of interactive workshops covering all aspects of their work with objects at Scotney, from textiles to gilding. You are sure to enter this experience curious and leave feeling inspired!
The repair shop
Meet the curators and conservators who care for Lancashire’s heritage on this exclusive behind the scenes tour of the Lancashire Conservation Studios. Explore Lancashire’s own ‘Repair Shop’, housed in a converted church, and see conservation in action as historic artefacts, including items from Rochdale Town Hall are restored ahead of a major 2026 display.

Maritime conservation
