125 Years Supporting the Local Workers

The original clubhouse was established by purchasing a property that was previously a shop on Ledger Lane in Outwood. There were 3 principal rooms for members; a games room, a reading room, and a "smoke room". Various additional facilities were added to suit the operation as a Working Men's Club. The trustees also purchased land beside this initial base and in 1907 plans were filed to create a much larger purpose built clubhouse. The plans for this show a library and a smoke room at the front, behind this was a bar and kitchen and at the back a large room across the width of the building doubled as a concert room and billiard room. At the back of the building the plan shows a lawn and games ground and theree is mention of a bowling green. The building was erected in 1908
