A walk around Pontefract town centre with local historian Eric Jackson, highlighting the history of Pontefract.

The walk will commence at the historic Buttercross, explaining why it isn't a cross. It will also cover various aspects of Pontefract's history, including the country's first Parliamentary election using a secret ballot. Of course, this being Pontefract, liquorice isn't far away and the connection between liquorice and the secret ballot will be revealed!

The walk takes you around some notable town centre landmarks, revealing their part in the town's history and concludes with a visit to the Museum.
