The 25th Norwich Print Fair
St Margarets Gallery, St Benedicts Street, Norwich, Norfolk, NR2 4TU
After an absence of 6 years, The Norwich Print Fair returns to the beautifully renovated St Margarets Church. The Church is one of 18 Medieval Churches in the care of Norwich Historic Churches Trust who have overseen the extensive and urgent repairs with a £500,000 grant from Historic England.
The new St Margaret's Gallery sits within the church without obscuring the fabric of the Medieval building, allowing visitors to enjoy the art on display as well as the 1967 stained glass depiction of the Ascension by Michael King and the more traditional depiction of St Margaret by Ian Keen as well as other historical features such as the tiles. Sadly no Medieval stained glass remains however this allows for beautiful clear light to fall into the gallery.
During Heritage Open Days the church will be hosting the greatly postponed 25th Norwich Print Fair with work from 30 of East Anglia's finest Printmakers. On display visitors will find a wide variety of contemporary printmaking techniques such as etching, mezzotint, linocut, wood engraving, letterpress, screen print, monoprint and collagraph. From its inception, the NPF has sought to inspire, inform, and encourage new interest in the art form of printmaking and so holds 'Printmakers in Action Day' on the middle Sunday of each Fair. This year it will be held on Sunday 14th September. Saturdays 13th and 20th are Meet the Artist Days where visitors can chat to the artists and see extra work. Open daily 1000 until 1700 until the 20th September.
