384th Bombardment Group Museum
Grafton Park Wood, Brigstock Road, Grafton Underwood, Kettering, Northamptonshire, NN14 3AA
The 384th Bombardment Group Museum is housed on the former Group Station Headquarters site on the former airfield of RAF Grafton Underwood, located just outside the village of Grafton Underwood, near Kettering, Northants.
Originally built during 1941 for the Royal Air Force, the airfield eventually became home to units of the United States Army Air Force from 1943, until their departure at the end of the war in 1945.
The 384th Bombardment Group was the principle unit stationed at the airfield. Just under 8,000 personnel of the 384th passed through the airfield during 1943-1945, with 536 of those losing their lives during the course of their duties.
Today the 384th Bombardment Group Museum aims to tell the story of the airfield, the machines and most importantly the people of the units based here. The Museum's visitor centre opened in early 2026, and has an array of exhibits, information boards and artefacts that help to tell the many stories linked to the airfield.
With much of the airfield sited in the woodland of Grafton Park Wood, a part of the Boughton Estate, there is the chance for visitors to take a short walk into the woods to discover a little more by visiting some areas of interest.
Our Heritage day aims to return our visitors back to the war time years, and explore this area of aviation heritage set within Northamptonshire's beautiful countryside.
