Lade Bank Pumping Station built in 1937 with an old cooling system (updated in 2005). The architecture can be traced back to the 1800s when Lade Bank was used for canal boats. The Ruston and Hornsby diesel engines can't be found anywhere else (UK).

Lade Bank pumping station has a capacity of 1000 tonnes/min and 17.1 cumecs which is roughly the same as 26 petrol tankers of water per minute. The site was improved in the 1980’s to include three electric pumps to provide more pumping capacity. The diesel pumps are horizontal mixed flow screw pumps and 240 horse power. This pumping station drains over 12,800 hectares. This pumping station discharges into the Hobhole Drain, lifting water from the lower land of the East Fen.
