Walk and Talk along Scotgate in Stamford
All Saints Church, All Saints Place, Stamford, Lincolnshire, PE9 2AG
Scotgate, All Saints Place and Red Lion Square have changed so much over the last hundred years. This walk and talk will highlight links to the brewing trade, and to vanished inns and pubs. One of which was linked to mid 19th century political intrigue. The street has also lost its industry, its slums at one end, with its surviving upper class buildings at the other. Then of course there was a medieval gate where today's traffic lights control the road where it meets West Street and North Street. There are also links to World War Two, and a world renown Crime Novelist. Not forgetting All Saints Church, Melbourn's Brewery, and the Post Office.
